I will Fight for the Justice :Nayantara
Hyderabad Feb 6:SOUTHERN hottie Nayanthara has been banned from working in Tamil films. The Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) and South Indian Artists’ Association, referred to as Nadigar Sangam, have jointly issued a statement asking producers to refrain from working with the actress in south Indian films. The ban has come about as director Lingusamy and his producer brother Subash Chandra Bose have filed a complaint stating that she refused to return the Rs 20 lakh she had taken as an advance from them for their film Paiyya. Nayanthara was signed for this film opposite Paruthi Veeran Karthi for a record fee of Rs 1 crore. However, the film’s producers, citing the global economic recession and cost-cutting requirements, urged Nayanthara to take a cut in her salary. However, this led to a war of words between the producers and the actor, and she was dropped from the project and was replaced by Tamannaah. Later, the producers tried to work out a compromise by which she would be paid a compensation of Rs 5 lakh out of the Rs 20 lakh they paid as her advance. This has not gone down well with Nayanthara, who spoke to BT from the sets of her Telugu film with Junior NTR in Hyderabad. “Who is Mr Lingusamy to decide my compensation after I sat at home for three months waiting for his film to start? I lost out on a big Telugu and Tamil film! My losses are huge. Who will compensate me, my time and money wasted on the project? The ban on me is totally unfair and smacks of double standards,” she says, adding that she’s shocked that Nadigar Sangam has washed its hands off her when she was in a difficult situation.
Nayanthara maintains that she has been a complete professional as far as her work is concerned. She has not come late to the sets, delayed projects or bunked shooting. Nayan concludes by saying, “Nobody can force me to do anything. I’m a fiercely independent woman who has no insecurities and I value my self-respect more than anything else. In this case, I’m being targetted because I’m an actress but I will fight for justice.”
