Madras HC allows release of Aamir-starrer Ghajini

CHENNAI: Clearing the decks for the release of Aamir Khan's Hindi film, ‘Ghajini', a division bench of the Madras high court on Wednesday suspended
a single judge's order restraining the producer from releasing it in theatres. The bench of Justice V Dhanapalan and Justice M Sathyanarayanan suspended the interim injunction granted on Tuesday on the condition that Geetha Arts division of Allu Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the producer, who came on appeal, deposited Rs 5 crore in the court.

As soon as the order was pronounced, counsel for the producer submitted pay orders for Rs 3 crore. He sought some time to deposit the remaining Rs 2 crore. The bench granted time till December 31 and permitted the immediate release of the film. The producer was also asked to furnish a statement of accounts relating to the movie's box office collections on January 6, 2009, the next date of hearing.
