Rahman- Wins the Hearts of West!

Hyderabad Jan 11 :Music maestro A.R. Rahman has made India proud by winning the Best Composer award for his score in the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' at the Annual Critics' Choice Awards. These awards, given by the the Broadcast Film Critics Association, which represents 200 of the top film critics across the United States, are considered to be a strong indicator as to which films would be nominated for the Oscars.

This is the first time a composer from India is even considered for this coveted honour. Earlier, his score for the same movie has been nominated for the Golden Globe Award for the Best Compser, the results of which will come out in a few days.

Rahman, the charmer from Chennai, shot to fame with the Mani Ranam sperhit, 'Roja', and in a couple of years, became the undisputed music king of India. His success brought about a revolution in Indian music, which spawned a generation of Rahman clones all over India. But, the keyboard wizard managed not to repeat himself and kept on reinventing himself. His scores for films such as 'Gentleman', 'Mangal Pandey' and 'Rang De Basanti' are examples.

His score for Lloyd Webber's musical, 'Bombay Dreams', had the western world sit up and take notice, and many projects followed.
