Siddharth on KIKK and Tamannaah
Hyderabad Feb 10 :Siddharth is choosy about the films he does. That explains why he has done just about five Telugu films so far. Generally he has worked with first-time directors and the films have clicked in a huge way. This time around too his teaming with Kishore Kumar for Koncham Ishtam Koncham Kashtam has resulted in success as the film which released in Thursday seems to be faring well. Siddharth speaks about the film.
Why did he sign KIKK?
I was looking for a love story where I could mix the elements I had explored in Nuvvostanante and Bommarillu. KIKK gave me the chance to be a hilarious flirt in one half and a committed son and lover in the second. My fans will love this film. This is my gift to them for supporting my choices.
On Prakash Raj playing his on screen Dad for the third time
Prakash and I are very good friends. We're very comfortable co-actors. He brings out the best in me. I would like to believe that I push him more than any other actor in our industry. He makes me want to be a better actor. We have explored a new facet in the father-son relationship in this film. I can't wait to try something new with him soon.
What about your co-star Tamannaah?
Tamannaah is a very hard working girl. I really enjoyed her punctuality and hard working attitude on set. I hope she enjoyed working with me as well. It's nice to see professional young blood entering the business.
How was debutant director Kishore to work with?
I am becoming something of an expert at working with first-time directors. Kishore is a typical debutant. He let me design my performance, and concentrated on the script of the film. We have been working on this film since August 2007. It's been a long journey and we've made a good film. I wish him the very best from here on as well.
This is Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's Telugu debut. How did you get the trio to compose for the film?
Kishore and I are huge fans of the talented trio. When we asked Buji he immediately signed them. It takes guts to operate the way Buji does. He is a 'no holds barred' producer. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are wonderful composers who have really worked hard on creating a superb soundtrack for my film. I can't wait to work with them again. The cinematographer Vijay K Chakravarty has also done a superb job and deserves a lot of praise for sculpting the film.
You have worked and continue to work with new directors. Why is this so?
I believe new directors see me as an actor and not as a star, and so they live out their dream of making a real, meaningful first film through me. I am a script-obsessed actor, and I think that draws me to new talent who comes with a bunch of exciting new ideas. Lastly, for some reason, senior filmmakers don't seem to have scripts for me. This is a blessing in disguise.
