AP budget resemble Satyam Computers balance sheet: Chandrababu
Hyderabad, Feb 6 : The budget presented in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly today by Finance Minister K Rosaiah resembled the balance sheet of defamed Satyam Computers, TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu alleged here today.
"The government has gone bankrupt. The truth would come out later. It is like the balance sheet of Satyam," he told reporters.
The government has reduced allocations to its pet sectors like irrigation and agriculture which shows the hollowness of their claims, he said.
Common man's life has become difficult as prices of essential commodities have shot up and there was no employment generation, Naidu alleged.
CPI(M) floor leader N Narasimhaiah said the government forgot land reforms, welfare of backward classes and minorities.
"You forget the land reforms, welfare of SC, ST, BC and minorities. Still you want votes," he said.
CPI legislator C Venkat Reddy expressed concern over reduced allocations to irrigation, agriculture and other priority areas. Senior TRS legislator E Rajender alleged that crucial areas like health, education, infrastructure development in rural areas have got a raw deal in the budget.
The Finance Minister today presented a budget for Rs 1.05 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2009-10 of which Rs 63,252 crore would be under non-plan and Rs 41,892 crore under plan expenditure.
Asserting that the state had achieved a "near nine per cent average annual growth rate for 2004-08," Rosaiah expressed hope that the state would achieve an eight per cent growth rate during the current financial year despite the global economic slowdown.
